Gary graduated from the University of London with an LLB (Hons) Degree in 2004. He obtained his Certificate of Legal Practice in 2010. He read in chambers in Messrs Zarina, Loh & Wong and was called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of High Court of Malaya on 1st August 2011. Then, he joined Messrs Jal & Lim on 1st January 2013. With a well-calculated stride, he later officially embarked his practice on sole-proprietorship of Messrs Gary Lee & Partners on 1st September 2015. Today, the Firm has grown into a team of four partners with broad expertise in different spectrums of law. Over the years of his practice, he has acquired extensive experience in various areas of practice, which include, General Corporate and Commercial, Conveyancing & Real Estate, Immigration, Wills and Succession Planning, Banking and Finance, Intellectual Property, Trademark and Foreign Investment Approvals.

General Corporate & Commercial

He has acted for multinationals in various fields concerning the establishment of businesses, merger & acquisition, joint venture, partnership, franchising, leasing, capital reorganisation, corporate restructuring, sale of goods, supply of services, distributorship, agency, employment, turnkey agreement, industrial relations, general corporate compliance matters and corporate secretarial matters.

Experience

Acted and advised a foreign Korean company on joint venture agreement for development, manufacturing, assembly and supply of mechanical parts and technology of industrial automation within the region of Southeast Asia.
Acted and advised a manufacturing company on leasing and franchising agreement.
Acted and advised a foreign cosmetic company on a distribution agreement.
Acted and advised a public listed company on escrow agreement, and acted as stakeholders.

Acted and advised a foreign company in purchasing the shares of a local private limited company.
Acted and advised a beverage manufacturing company and its’ group of companies on corporate restructuring and corporate compliance matter.
Acted and advised a re-cycling company on shareholders’ agreement, put-option agreement, settlement agreement, corporate restructuring and corporate compliance matters, conducted due diligence exercise for such exercises.

Conveyancing & Real Estate

In addition to representing corporations, individuals and foreigners in property sales, renting and leasing, he also acted for developers in land acquisition (by way of government land sales and en-bloc transactions, etc.). He handles all aspects of property-related work dealing with a wide range of properties, from residential, commercial, industrial properties, lands, to hotels.

Experience

Acted and advised a company on sale and purchase agreement to purchase an industrial land worth RM72,000,000.00.
Acted and advised an individual on sale and purchase agreement to purchase vacant residential land for a purchase price of RM10,000,000.00.
Acted and advised a company on sale and purchase agreement to purchase several industrial lands worth RM7,700,000.00, RM6,400,000.00, RM5,600,000.00 and RM4,900,000.00 respectively.
Acted and advised a company on sale and purchase agreement for the sales of its’ two of the industrial lands worth of RM4,000,000.00 and RM3,700,000.00, and advising on all taxes in relation to the transaction thereof.
Acted and advised numerous foreigner purchases on sale and purchase agreement for purchase and sale of residential properties located at prime areas, like KLCC, Mont Kiara, Hartamas, Damansara Height, Desa Parkcity, for the range transaction worth from RM1,000,000.00 to RM5,000.000.00.
Acted and advised foreigner bulk purchasers on the purchase of housing and commercial projects in Malaysia.
Acted and advised purchasers on the proclamation of sales of distressed and auctioned properties.

Immigration

He established an outstanding reputation for his creative and steadfast approach in handling broad range sophisticated immigration issues, that include advising foreigners on the application for either working or social visit visa. He assisted foreigners’ family settling in Malaysia well, from securing of their home, setting-up business, up to enrolling their children to school respectively.

Experience

Advised foreigners on each of the individual’s and dependant’s application and process on social visit visa under Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Programme.
Advised client on work-related passes or visas for professionals and personnel at technical, executive and managerial levels who have assigned to work in Malaysia.
Attended translations, legalisations, certifications required for either working or social visit visa.

Will & Succession Planning

He worked with clients to map out succession plans that cover business transition arrangements, superannuation, wills and estate planning. He gained extensive experience working with family-owned business to structure the business owners’ commercial and personal affairs in a way that will provide their families with a financially healthy legacy. In doing so, he employed a range of strategies including buy-sell agreements, business transition agreements, superannuation strategies, unique will documents and testamentary trusts. He ‘closes the loop’ on these strategies with probate application and estate administration.
